GT CERT recently held their annual Holiday party for
2008. Members brought their favorite dishes and gathered to
share a nice meal and talk about the GT CERT program. GT
CERT board members Bonnie Godwin and Brian Pisaneschi were
co-recipients of the “Don Nevins Memorial GTCERT Volunteer
of the Year”.
GT CERT participated at the open house held at Tampa Fire
Rescue Station # 4 on Saturday, December 6th. CERT members
passed out flyers and answered questions about the program.
Special thanks to Hugh Holton, Allison Livingston and David
Denson for helping out.
GT CERT recently conducted Volunteer Reception Center
training at the Tampa Fire Rescue Training Center. The
Volunteer Reception Center is a concept to be utilized
following a disaster in order to organize spontaneous
volunteers who will want to respond.

You want me to let go of what?? I don't think so, it's a
long way down there! Actually many brave volunteers
took the leap and rappelled from the fire training tower at
October's training meeting. See all the fun here.
Held at the beautiful
Firefighters Museum, CERT
volunteers came out in full force to meet their fellow team
members and make plans for assisting in an emergency. A
little rain won't keep us down!
Eleven GT CERT Members participated as safety observers
at this year's Mass Casualty Exercise held at Tampa
International Airport. Watch them at work and make
plans to attend next year!
They may not be ruby slippers, but our Alpha Class of
2008 now has the training and expertise to find this
"victim" and provide first aid. Congratulations to our
newest team members!
