Tampa Launching Campaign To Promote City's Web SiteLaura Kinsler

TAMPA - Mayor Dick Greco admits he doesn't know the first thing about computers, but he's thrilled Tampa's Web site averages 1.5 million hits every month.
In the year since the city redesigned the site, thousands of residents have used it to pay parking tickets and water bills and get copies of police reports.
That was without much promotion.
Now the city is launching a campaign to tell people about services available on the Internet. Fliers, bumper stickers and public service announcements will urge people to "surf the city" at www.TampaGov.net.
Robert Chandler, regional manager for the National Information Consortium, which rebuilt the Web site, said he expects TampaGov to see "exponential" growth in its second year.
