Mayor Bob Buckhorn presented a key to the City of Tampa and an official proclamation to
American League Cy Young Award winner David Price, a resident of the City of Tampa and a pitcher
for the Tampa Bay Rays. His sidekick, Astro the dog, also received his own miniature version of the key.
 

"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

"Almost two years ago, we set out to connect our downtown neighborhoods. The Encore project will rebuild the historic Central Park neighborhood, restore hope, secure housing, and reshape our urban landscape. Receiving the Choice Neighborhoods grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development is a major step towards making this vision a reality."

Tampa received the largest grant of the four cities awarded the Choice Neighborhoods Grant by HUD that will go towards the Encore project and surrounding neighborhoods.

Completion of the Encore project will be a key component in re-energizing the north part of downtown Tampa.
