Mayor Buckhorn was joined by five of the living former mayors to unveil the plans for the Kennedy Plaza segment of the Riverwalk. It will be completed in November of 2014.


"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

"Each mayor played an important role in building the Riverwalk and creating something special for our community. This is not my accompishment; it's ours."

  After 40 years, the Kennedy segment of Tampa's Riverwalk will be completed by Thanksgiving 2014, connecting Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park to the Channel District.

  Mayor Buckhorn wrote an open letter to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners advocating for the repeal of the 8-year-old gay pride activities ban, stating that "we will rise together or we will fail alone."
