At the groundbreaking for Tampa Fire Rescue Station #19 last Wednesday, Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Tampa Fire Rescue Chief Tom Forward met with Captain Carter who served with Port Tampa’s volunteer fire service before the Port Tampa neighborhood became part of the City of Tampa.

"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

“Despite the federal government shutdown, the City of Tampa is moving forward. Last week, we broke ground on a new fire station in Port Tampa that will ensure our first responders have the tools and resources they need to deliver the quality of service the neighborhood deserves. This week, we're starting work on Water Works Park improvements in Tampa Heights.”
