"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

"The holiday season is upon us. There are so many great events going on throughout the city - and I encourage you to get out and enjoy all that our community has to offer during the holidays."

11/26: Tampa Bay Times: Tampa talks with Bright House about free Wi-Fi in downtown parks
After putting out an RFP earlier this year, Tampa has entered into negotiations with Bright House Networks to provide free Wi-Fi in downtown and along the Riverwalk.

11/27: Tampa Tribune: Night gets lighted at Hanukkah celebration in Tampa
Mayor Buckhorn joined Yossie Dubrowski, director of Chabad Lubavitch, to light the menorah in front of City Hall in celebration of Hanukkah. To view a list of various holiday happenings throughout Tampa, visit tampagov.net.

11/29: Tampa Bay Times: Trigaux: Florida says it wants 'jobs, jobs, jobs' but it really needs 'opportunity, opportunity, opportunity'
The Tampa area is leading the state of Florida out of the recession in terms of the number of new jobs created, but as Mayor Buckhorn often speaks about, we need to continue to change our economic DNA and create new opportunities for economic growth. Progress is already being made with big job announcements recently from Bristol Meyers Squibb, USAA, and HealthPlan Services.

11/29: WTSP: War on the I-4: Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Mayor Buddy Dyer place friendly wager on USF, UCF football game

Before the USF-UCF game on Friday night, Mayor Buckhorn placed a friendly bet with Mayor Dyer over who would win. Since Mayor Dyer's Knights pulled out a win, look for Mayor Buckhorn to sport a UCF jersey some time soon.
