Crime Rate Down 42.5%
Tampa is a safer city to live, work, play, and raise a family! In 2007, the crime rate and the crash rate have both decreased by 10%. In the last five years, crime has dropped an impressive 42.5%, which translates into 15,000 fewer crimes.

Black History Celebration
In 1988, a group of Police Department employees established an event to celebrate the African-American community. Twenty years later, the event has evolved into an annual program highlighting community partnerships.
