Mayor Buckhorn joins Friends of the Riverwalk’s Steve Anderson to unveil six new historic monuments for the Tampa Riverwalk.

"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

"This weekend, we lit up Tampa’s Tree at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and celebrated with SantaFest and the Rough Rider’s Holiday Parade. There are so many great holiday events throughout our community, including Snow on 7th this coming weekend."

12/3: Tampa Tribune: Riverwalk adds six more leaders from Tampa history
Last week, Mayor Buckhorn joined Steve Anderson of Friends of the Riverwalk to unveil six new busts of local leaders that will dot the Tampa Riverwalk to give residents and visitors a sense of Tampa history. The busts unveiled are C. Blythe Andrews, Cody Fowler, Kate Jackson, Peter O. Knight, Paulina Pedroso, and G. D. Rogers.

12/5: Tampa Bay Times: TIA awards contract for first phase of big expansion
Tampa International Airport hired Austin Commercial to build the first phase of their master plan, which will bring to fruition nearly $1 billion in improvements. The project is anticipated to create 8,000 jobs in the Tampa Bay area, with those jobs estimated to have a $320 million economic impact on the community over the next four years.

12/6: Tampa Tribune: City seeks proposals for Ybor City land
The City of Tampa released two RFPs Friday to develop vacant city-owned property in historic Ybor City. One parcel will be transformed into a hotel; the other will become a multi-family residential development. Both projects will help continue to foster a 24 hour a day/ 7 day a week environment, and create new economic opportunities in the area.
12/7: Tampa Tribune: Tribune report leads to city crackdown on rundown motels

As part of the City’s hard line approach to code violations, two rundown motels have been cited with numerous violations.

12/9: Tampa Bay Business Journal: Copa will fly larger aircraft to TIA due to high demand
 In response to a high demand for seats on the new non-stop flight from Tampa to Panama City, Copa Airlines will fly a larger airplane into and out of Tampa International Airport for its first flights. The first flights take off next week.
