"2013 was an important year for Tampa. New developments are coming out of the ground, our crime rate continues to decrease, and we continue to invest in our infrastructure as well as impove on quality of life issues. I look forward to the New Year with all the blessings and opportunities it will bring for our community."  

12/10: ABC Action News: Tampa residents hope pump station will stop flooding
Residents in the University Square area welcomed the grand opening of the Donut Pond Pump Station. The new pump station and area stormwater improvements, which were constructed in partnership with SWFWMD and Hillsborough County, will dramatically alleviate the flooding problems which plague the neighborhood during heavy rains.

12/11: Tampa Bay Times: Tampa will host the 2016 Frozen Four hockey tournament
Tampa will host the 2016 Frozen Four, the NCAA men’s college hockey championships. Tampa hosted the same tournament in 2012 and clearly, the NCAA liked what they saw.

12/12: WTSP: Mayor Buckhorn delivers food baskets to Tampa families
As part of an annual tradition, City of Tampa employees raise money for and donate to holiday food baskets to Tampa families in need. This year, more than 125 families received the baskets of food and a special gift certificate to Publix.
12/13: Tampa Tribune: Editorial: Finding the right fix for Cuscaden Pool

As the Tampa Tribune editorializes, the City should pursue finding "the right fix" for Cuscaden Pool, and is considering the best way to move forward.

12/15: Tampa Tribune: Women on the rise in the Bay area's public workforce
Mayor Buckhorn has made it a point to hire and promote women in high-profile roles within City government. While there is still progress to be made, the mayor wants his administration to look like the community it serves.
