At an exercise last week at the Tampa Convention Center, Mayor Bob Buckhorn was rescued by special operators representing more than 16 countries, and later got his turn at the .50 caliber.
     
     

"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

"From public Wi-Fi in our riverfront parks to using social media, the City of Tampa continues to evolve, becoming more technology oriented and customer service driven. At the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference at the Tampa Convention Center, Mayor Buckhorn was captured and then, rescued successfully during an exciting exercise in the basin behind the Tampa Convention Center.

Last week, Jeff Vinik unveiled his plans to transform a parking lot into a 400 room hotel between the Tampa Bay Times Forum and Tampa Convention Center.
