At an exercise last week at the Tampa Convention Center, Mayor Bob Buckhorn was rescued by special operators representing more than 16 countries, and later got his turn at the .50 caliber.

"From the Desk of Mayor Buckhorn" is designed to give citizens greater insight into the Mayor's Office. Every week, Mayor Buckhorn will offer a snippet of what he's currently working on.

"From public Wi-Fi in our riverfront parks to using social media, the City of Tampa continues to evolve, becoming more technology oriented and customer service driven. This week, we're launching a new feature on our mobile app, which will allow residents and customers to not only stay in touch with the city when they're on the go, but also pay utility bills."
