It's time to celebrate the Irish in Ybor City! The 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment Rough Riders will host their annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Ybor City this Saturday, March 14, 2009. The parade will begin at 8:00 pm at Nick Nuccio & 7th Avenue, proceed east on 7th Avenue to 20th Street where it will end. The disabled/wheelchair viewing is located on 7th Avenue, just west of 15th Street. The disbanding area will be on 20th Street from 7th Avenue to Palm Avenue, and eastbound lanes from 20th Street to 15th Street.
Event Staging: 3:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m
Parade: 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Disbanding: 8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
In order to prepare for the festivities, the following streets will be closed:
3:30 p.m. - Parade staging area will close. Streets include Nick Nuccio between 7th Avenue and Twiggs and Cass Street betwee Jefferson Street and Nebraska Avenue. Nebraska and Cass intersection wiill remain open.
4:00 p.m. - 7th Avenue to 21st Street will begin to close. 15th Street will remain open until Police are posted and ready to close. Parking will be allowed on 7th Avenue until 3:00 pm and signs will be posted. Vehicles parked after 3:00 pm will be ticketed and towed. Bicycle barricades will be installed starting at Nuccio and proceeding east until the entire parade route is completed.
6:00 p.m. - 15th St. from 8th Avenue to 6th Street is closed. Disbanding areas on 20th Street and Palm Avenue will close too.
Please note: This event is not wetzoned. Therefore, the consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited from public sidewalks and streets. Vendors will be allowed during the event hours. All vendors must seek approval from the City Zoning Office (813/274-8405) and then, obtain a business tax receipt from the City's Business Tax Office at 2105 N. Nebraska Avenue (813/274-8751). Permits must be retained by Thursday, March 12, 2009.
