The City of Tampa has launched a new notification system, Alert Tampa, replacing Reverse 911.
The new system will allow the City to notify registrants of important information through voicemail, text messages and email alerts. Emergency personnel will use the service to notify citizens of mandatory evacuations, boil-water orders, searches for missing persons, and other critical incidents. Subscribers can also choose to receive informational alerts such as emerging crime trends, information on sexual predators in their neighborhoods, street closures for planned events, and more. Alert Tampa subscribers can access the system's web site to update their information or cancel at anytime.
