  Mayor Buckhorn passed the 100-day mark on July 9. Both the St. Petersburg Times and the Tampa Tribune devoted articles to reviewing the Mayor’s first 100 days, recognizing his methodical approach to governing and his focus on economic development.

  7/5/11 Volunteers clean up Tampa's beaches during annual beach clean-up
  Each year, thousands visit the city’s beaches for Independence Day and leave exploded fireworks debris and harmful plastics on Tampa’s shoreline. Volunteers organized by the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful were up bright and early today, Tuesday, July 5, and picked up over 70 bags of trash and fireworks (approximately 2100 lbs) from Ben T. Davis Beach and the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
