Mayor Buckhorn toured Intezyne, a biotech company launched six years ago at USF's Research Park by two young Ph.Ds. They have created the IVECT method to make cancer treatment safer and more effective. To date, Intezyne has 26 patents filed and 18 patents granted. The Weekly View

  The mayors of Tampa, Kansas City, Oakland, and Providence, plus 12 additional local land use leaders from these cities, have been selected as the 2011-2012 class of fellows for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Daniel Rose Center for Public Leadership in Land Use. The mission of the ULI Rose Center is to encourage and support excellence in land use decision making. Read more
  9/30/11 City of Tampa to take on Management of McKay Bay Transfer Station - Change projected to save $1 million annually
  The City of Tampa Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management will reach another milestone as it assumes operational management of the McKay Bay Transfer Station on October 3, 2011. This City of Tampa efficiency initiative will result in a projected $1 million annual savings. Additionally, the transfer of duties will take place with zero increase in Solid Waste personnel. "This type of change just makes sense," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Learn more

  9/30/11 Tampa Activates Intersection Safety Cameras - Warnings Start October 1 and Citations Begin November 1
  The City of Tampa will activate its 23 intersection safety cameras as part of its Stop on Red Tampa safety program. Starting October 1, a warning notice with no fine assessment will be issued to the vehicle’s registered owner if caught making a red-light violation. On November 1, vehicles caught making a red-light violation will be issued a $158 citation. Learn more
