  11/14/11 Top Story: Mayor Buckhorn to seek economic development opportunities in Israel this week
  Wednesday, the mayor will depart for Israel with a delegation that includes leadership from the University of South Florida CAMLS (Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation), the Tampa Jewish Federation, the City of Tampa, as well as members from Tampa’s business community and the Tampa Sister Cities Committee. Mayor Buckhorn is scheduled to meet with the mayors of Jerusalem and Tampa's Sister City, Ashdod, as well as leaders from Israel’s high-tech robotics and simulation companies.

  11/10/11 Tampa’s only outdoor skating rink returns to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
  The Tampa Bay Lightning has again partnered with the Friends of Tampa Recreation, Inc. and the City of Tampa to present Tampa's Downtown on Ice. The rink will be open every day, including Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. as well as Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. The goal of Tampa's Downtown on Ice is to draw people to downtown Tampa, attract local, regional, and state interest in Tampa, and make downtown a destination during the holidays.   11/10/11 Mayor Buckhorn welcomes new Public Affairs Director
  Mayor Buckhorn announced the appointment of Ali Glisson as the City of Tampa Public Affairs Director. Glisson comes to the City most recently after working as Communications Director for the re-election campaign of Governor Chet Culver and Lt. Governor Patty Judge of Iowa. Prior to that, Glisson worked for the Iowa Democratic Party as Communications Director and for the Hillary Clinton for President campaign, focusing on new media. Glisson, a Tampa native, graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names and is happy to be home.
  11/8/11 City of Tampa releases RFP for classic federal courthouse in downtown
  The City of Tampa released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the acquisition (long-term lease) and redevelopment of the Classic Federal Courthouse, located on North Florida Avenue in the heart of the Central Business District. The RFP specifically targets a hotel development. "This is an excellent opportunity to re-energize one of downtown's grand historic buildings," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "A luxury hotel in this building would be a magnet that not only illustrates quality urban design and function, but will also serve to stimulate additional growth in the neighborhood." More info
