  2/22/12 Top Story | Tampa Bay Times: Tampa to dye part of Hillsborough River green for St. Patrick's Day
  Mayor Buckhorn is welcoming all of Tampa down to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park for a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration on March 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Hillsborough River will be transformed into a bright green while the park will offer fun for the entire family, including children’s activities, live entertainment, local & Irish beer selections, food trucks, and more.

“St. Patrick’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate our Irish heritage because everyone knows Ponce de Leon was really Ponce O’Leon, an Irishman,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Bring your family, and enjoy the day in downtown Tampa. This will be a great event with lots to do and see, including a kelly-green Hillsborough River.” Learn more

  The influx of new residents to downtown in recent years brings the real possibility that Franklin Street will once again be a vibrant area. Already, new businesses are opening along the corridor. The City is adding lighting, widening walkways, and installing landscaping to entice even more development on Franklin Street. Read more
  2/24/12 Tampa Bay Times: Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn announces big City Hall reorganization
  Mayor Buckhorn has announced a major reorganization at City Hall that will maximize efficiency and save a projected $425,000 a year. With the goal of attracting new jobs and empowering neighborhoods, the mayor has moved two key staff members into positions where they will oversee the departments that deal with either economic development or neighborhoods, which will increase accountability and make Tampa more competitive.
