Tampa’s Riverwalk will soon also serve as a Historical Monument Trail. Mayor Buckhorn was on hand to help unveil the first six of Tampa’s historical figures that will be honored with a bust. The figures chosen represent early settlers (the Indian mound-builders) as well as early strivers in shipping (James McKay Sr.), railroads and hotels (Henry B. Plant), cigar-making (Vicente Martinez-Ybor), nursing (Clara Frye) and women's rights (Eleanor McWilliams Chamberlain). Read the full story.
3/8/12 Hotwire.com Study: Tourists get value in Tampa
Just in time for Spring Break, Hotwire.com released the results of its Travel Value Index study. The Travel Value Index considers a destination’s entertainment, value, and attractions. Out of 72 cities, Tampa finished sixth on the list. It should come as no surprise that Tampa also ranked as the 9th most popular Spring Break destination on Orbitz.com’s list.
3/7/12 Fox 13: Downtown Food Truck Fiesta grows
Since the very first Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta last November, thousands of people have shown up to Lykes Gaslight Park once a month to enjoy the unique outdoor dining experience. The Mayor’s event continues to attract people from all over the Bay area to come and enjoy lunch in downtown Tampa.

Men in suits and ties and women in heels waited in line for gourmet burgers, cupcakes, crepes, organic wraps, and lots of other choices.

Sue Wright saw the food truck rally advertised and decided to drive 40 miles from Hudson, just to see what all the buzz is about.

"It just seems like a neat thing to do, to go around to the different trucks and pick something out. Just seemed like a fun thing to do," she said. Watch the full report.
