  Mayor Buckhorn delivered his first State of the City address against a backdrop of the Hillsborough River, the University of Tampa minarets, and Rampello Downtown Partnership School students. The mayor talked about making the Hillsborough River the center of downtown, not the western edge. He highlighted progress over his first year and laid out the challenges ahead.   4/9/12 Mayor Announces InVision Tampa Campaign for City Center
  Mayor Buckhorn officially announced InVision Tampa, a master plan and design study of the City Center, Nebraska Transit Corridor, and surrounding neighborhoods. In yet another step forward in his multi-pronged economic recovery strategy, Mayor Buckhorn emphasized his focus on connecting people to places and progress, particularly emphasizing the need for champions that can make things happen.

Citizens are highly encouraged to attend the meetings or to log on to the social outlets and I-Town Hall to share thoughts and perspectives, or just to stay up to date with the project. InVision Tampa will officially kick off with the first Knowledge Exchange on April 11 at the Hyatt in Downtown Tampa. "We need voices, insights and ideas from anyone and everyone who works, lives or visits Tampa," said Mayor Buckhorn. "And in mid-2013, we will have a 'living workbook' of initiatives that we can actually get done that will shape Tampa into a 21st century city."

  4/4/12 Bay News 9: New center to usher in streamlined permitting in Tampa
  Mayor Buckhorn has made growing Tampa‚Äôs economy his highest priority this past year. The opening of the Development Services Center, designed to be a one-stop shop for permitting, will make Tampa more attractive to developers by making the permitting process easier and quicker.

"This is a good thing," Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said. "It will transform the culture in this community; it will make us more competitive. People will want to come here and do business with us." Read more.
