514/12 Top Story | Humana joins with City of Tampa to build a neighborhood playground for kids of all ages in East Tampa
Humana Inc. is teaming up with the City of Tampa, the VM Ybor Neighborhood Association, the East Tampa Community Revitalization Partnership, and KaBOOM! to build a one-of-a-kind, multi-generational playground at Tampa's Ragan Park. More than 200 volunteers will gather in Tampa's East Tampa neighborhood on Saturday, August 11 to build the unique play space in just one day. KaBOOM! will be on the ground May 31 to give children and adults alike the opportunity to draw their dream playground starting at 5 p.m. in Ragan Park, located at 1200 E Lake Drive.

"Our strength as a city lies in the quality of our neighborhoods, specifically our parks and playgrounds," Mayor Buckhorn said. "I know the residents of East Tampa, especially those living near Ragan Park, will be grateful for the investment. The convention may last only a week, but Humana's commitment to our community will provide a lasting legacy." Read more

5/18/12 InVision Tampa: What can we do to improve jobs in Downtown and its surrounding neighborhoods?
There is just over a month to left for the InVision Tampa E-Town Hall page. So far, Tampa's page has been held up as an example because of the high level of engagement from citizens. You can submit ideas of your own or vote on those of others. You can also join Mayor Buckhorn for the last two Knowledge Exchange Forums on May 30 and June 20 at the Tampa Convention Center.

5/20/12 Tampa Tribune: Planning Tampa's time to shine
Bill Harris, CEO of the Republican National Convention, penned an editorial in the Tampa Tribune containing impressive numbers about the convention. There will be 15,000 credentialed members of the media in town, a number that exceeds Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding. They will broadcast from 34 sky suites and anchor desks, eight radio broadcast booths, 50 television stand-up locations, and additional facilities equipped for 100 regional and syndicated talk show hosts. Additionally, 300 buses will shuttle convention goers to and from the 16,000 rooms booked in 100 hotels. However, the most important number of all is the 50,000 delegates and guests that will be arriving and spending during one of Tampa's slowest tourist seasons.
