(027) $18.54 - $26.38 an hour     $38,563.20 - $54,870.40 a year

(026) $17.81 - $25.34 an hour $37,044.80 - $52,707.20 a year

(025) $17.11 - $24.37 an hour $35,588.80 - $50,689.60 a year

APPLICANTS MUST BE CURRENT CITY OF TAMPA WATER DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES.

NATURE OF WORK:

Performs highly technical work involving the operation and production of potable drinking water at a State licensed drinking water production facility. Assists higher level Production Technician in technical duties of advanced water treatment activities; prepares operational reports; monitors remote facilities and wellfield; receives chemical shipments; maintains files, records and logs required for Operations section. Performs routine inspection of treatment equipment at chemical building, pump stations, intake structure, lime house, filter gallery, pipe gallery, and clearwell. Inspects chemical feed equipment; makes chemical feed adjustments as directed by team leader; oversees delivery of treatment chemicals, transfers chlorine cars, connects new car arrivals and prepares empty car for pickup by railroad. Performs related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High-school graduation, supplemented by course work in theories and principles of water treatment operations at the Class “B” level and one (1) year related work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:

  • Possession of a valid Florida Class “C” Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License; ability to obtain a Florida Class “B” License within 18 months of employment. (Submit photocopy of Class "C" License with application.)

  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within 18 months, certification for Basic Mechanical Skills.

  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
