NATURE OF WORK: Performs responsible fire rescue supervision involving the command of an Advanced Life Support Unit and is responsible for all medical care given at the scene of a medical emergency until relieved by a Senior Medical Officer. Maintains proficiency in combat firefighting skills.
QUALIFICATIONS: (a) Four (4) years of service with Tampa Fire Rescue including three (3) years endorsed as an Acting Rescue Lieutenant.
(b) Employees with a minimum of 3 years on the job and 2 years as an Acting Rescue Lieutenant may apply and will become eligible when attaining the required 4 and 3 years of experience.
(c) Must currently be a Paramedic (F-4) to sit for exam and to be promoted.
(d) Successful completion of 24 college credits (15 of which must be in the area of fire science/administration, emergency medical services, business or public administration, or industrial education with a major in fire science/administration).
(e) Successful completion of a college level course in personnel management.
(f) Approval by the Tampa Fire Rescue Medical Director.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
-State of Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services certification as a Paramedic. -Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
NOTE: All of the required experience and education for eligibility purposes must have been obtained prior to the close of business, July 13,2012.
EXAMINATION: 100%
(Multiple choice 25%, In-Basket 25%, Counseling 25%, Tactical 25%) Education and Seniority points added after a grade of 60% is obtained. (Submit all applicable transcripts and certifications with application.)
