JOB PURPOSE: The position involves a high degree of technical knowledge with the ability to analyze and model Stormwater Drainage Basins. The position also requires the ability to apply engineering principles to assignments that include project management of stormwater projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares plans, specifications and cost estimates for improvements to storm drainage systems, including pumping stations. Exercises independent judgment in formulation of design options/recommended solutions. Reviews utility, subdivision, planning, and Master Basin studies. Requires the ability to apply engineering principles to assignments that include project management of stormwater projects. Coordinates project permitting requirements with Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies and other city departments. Prepares short and long-range planning study programs & explores new Stormwater pollution control technologies. Provides groundwork support to the Planning Section Chief. Drafts and coordinates responses to residents, City Council, and City Administration; attends City council public hearings. Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably related to the area of assignment, and one (1) year engineering experience. An acceptable transcript of college coursework/credits may be requested.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Water Resource Modeling experience is preferred, utilizing XP-SWMM and working knowledge of ArcGIS.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
EXAMINATION: Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
