PART-TIME: 30 hours

JOB PURPOSE: The selected candidate will be responsible for performing minor maintenance and groundskeeping of the Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management facalities and grounds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performing minor maintenance and groundskeeping of City of Tampa Parks & Recreation facalities and grounds. Performing tasks that require physical strength and endurance. Operating and maintaining power tools and equipment as necessary. Manually loading and unloading heavy items, including supplies, equipment, and materials. Transporting people, material, tools, and equipment to and from sites to ensure efficiency and safety. Operating radio or communications equipment. Working irregular hours and performing tasks of a hazardous nature may be required. Positions require operation of a motor vehicle and some minor vehicle maintenance. Performing related work as required.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of minor repair, maintenance and construction methods. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions. Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment where required. Knowledge of plant care, where required. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public. Skill in the use and care of hand and power tools and other related materials and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of 8th grade and six (6) months experience in services and/or building or mechanical maintenance or repair work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid Florida Class “E” Driver’s License. A valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class "B" is preferred. Submit copy of license with application.
EXAMINATION: Evaluation of training and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
