(018) $13.03 - $18.54 an hour     

PART-TIME: 2O HOURS A WEEK

BENEFITS:

JOB PURPOSE: The selected candidate will perform responsible customer service work in a lead capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing clerical tasks of more than average difficulty in receiving and responding to customer requests for services and/or information in person, by mail or telephone.

  • Providing advice, guidance and assistance to lower-level clerks in difficult or unusual situations.

  • Offering payment arrangements, copies of past due bills, and bill explanations.

  • Processing and closing service orders associated with field collection activity.

  • Planning and scheduling all work associated with field collections.

  • Assisting with the overflow of credit and collection calls coming in through the call center.

  • Reviewing reports to ensure that documentation is complete; resolves errors and problems in accounts, payments, etc. to facilitate processing.

  • Some positions may also require cashiering tasks.

  • Compiling data and participates in informational searches; researches and resolves unusual problems.

  • Performing related work as required.

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of effective customer service practices and techniques.

  • Knowledge of office records keeping practices and methods.

  • Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment usage.

  • Knowledge of the services, functions and established policies and procedures of the department or area to which assigned.

  • Ability to make routine decisions.

  • Ability to serve in a lead capacity over lower level personnel, providing guidance and advice in unusual or difficult situations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with persons of diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate a computer.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    High-school graduation and three (3) years general office or clerical experience, including one (1) year customer service or public contact experience, preferably with experience in the assigned area; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    Extensive customer service experience is highly desirable. Preference will be given to applicants that are bilingual.

    EXAMINATION:

    Written Test (Time Limit: 1 hour).
