SALARY RANGE:

(022) $15.58 - $22.12 an hour     $32,406.40 - $46,009.60 a year

JOB PURPOSE: The selected candidate will perform responsible, technical instruction and gymnastics and dance program coordination work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning, researching and conducting diverse training sessions and workshops in gymnastics and dance related areas.

  • Organizing and teaching gymnastic and/or dance activities and competitive teams.

  • Coaching competitive team for levels 3-10.

  • Planning and promoting gymnastics and dance exhibitions.

  • Preparing participants for gymnastics and dance competition through advanced levels.

  • Traveling with teams.

  • Supervising student instructors.

  • Organizing fund-raising projects.

  • Setting up gymnasium for all activities.

  • Ordering, inspecting, and maintaining gymnastics equipment.

  • Administering first aid.

  • Overseeing the work of lower level gymnastic instructors, custodial and seasonal personnel.
  • Insuring efficient operation and maintenance of assigned areas and equipment.

  • Insuring security of buildings when leaving area.

  • Maintaining necessary records and prepares reports.

  • Receiving monies from class participants and making deposits.

  • Writing receipts for supplies; purchasing supplies or obtaining donations from local businesses.

  • Leading training curriculum for recreational and developmental staff.

  • Performing other duties as required.

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of principles, rules, materials, and equipment requirements of gymnastics and/or dance activities.

  • Knowledge of record keeping and report writing.

  • Ability to develop strong gymnastics through effective drills.

  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise a specialized recreational activity.

  • Ability to stimulate interest and enthusiasm of various age groups in gymnastics and dance activities.

  • Ability to organize and direct the work of others.

  • Ability to administer first aid.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

  • Ability to demonstrate the execution of a class beginner through competitive team level 10 gymnastics and advanced dance.

  • Ability to physically spot level 5-10 competitive team gymnastics skills

  • Skill in the execution of gymnastic and dance activities.

  • Skill in the use, care and maintenance of pertinent equipment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Graduation from an accredited high school and three years of college with three (3) years experience in teaching gymnastics and/or dance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Preferred Qualifications: Applicants that possess excellent customer service skills, is highly energetic and enthusiastic are preferred. Dance and choreography a plus. Strong Team player with established leadership skills are desired.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

    Possession of a:

  • Valid Florida driver's license.

  • Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate within six (6) months of appointment.

  • U.S.A. Gymnastics Safety Certification within 6 months of appointment.

    EXAMINATION:

    Evaluation of training and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing. Employee selected must have character suitable for this position.
