Security Guard

SALARY RANGE:
(015) $11.79 - $16.78 an hour     

Part-time 20 & 30 hours a week.

BENEFITS: Option to join the Cityís health and dental programs at full-cost; paid holidays, pension and tax-deferred compensation (457) plans, plus those benefits required by law such as social security and workerís compensation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs responsible security work involving protection of municipal property.
  • Patrols an assigned municipal facility on foot or in a lightweight motor vehicle to guard against fire, theft, vandalism, and disruptive acts.
  • Ensures that facilities are secured and that security systems are operational.
  • Observes, resolves and/or reports any unusual conditions or activities.
  • Assists visitors with questions and problems.
  • Completes reports and forms when required.
  • Works nights, weekends and holidays, or at locations removed from the department's primary facility.
  • Performs security work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
  • Performs related work as required.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Completion of the eighth grade and six (6) months general security, law enforcement, or public contact work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Successful completion of a prescribed program of parking enforcement training.

  • Must be able to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent.

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
    Possession of a valid Florida Driverís License.

    EXAMINATION: Evaluation of training and experience. A background investigation and polygraph examination will be conducted on the candidate selected for employment. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
