Electrical Technician I

(027) $18.91 - $26.91 an hour     $39,332.80 - $55,972.80 a year

JOB PURPOSE: The selected candidate will be responsible for performing assignments of more than average difficulty involving electrical maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
DESIRED KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Working knowledge of: the standard tools, methods, materials, and practices of the electrical
trade; occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions, to include work with high
voltages; municipal and national electrical codes.
Ability to: interpret and work from technical sketches and blueprints; locate, define, and repair
defects in electrical facilities and equipment; plan, layout, install, alter, repair, and maintain a
variety of electrical systems and equipment, some of which are relatively complex; understand
and effectively carry out oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working
relationships with others; perform work requiring physical strength; operate light motor vehicles.
Skill in: use and care of standard tools, equipment, and testing devices of the electrical trade.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school supplemented by college level course work in electrical engineering and six (6) months related experience; OR, graduation from an accredited high school with one (1) year related work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

EXAMINATION: Evaluation of training and experience.
