(026) $18.17 - $25.85 an hour     $37,793.60 - $53,768.00 a year

JOB PURPOSE: The selected candidate will perform skilled work in technical maintenance and major repairs to fire department emergency vehicles and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:


DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS: High-school or vocational-school graduation and one (1) year experience in performing routine maintenance and minor repair work on automotive, construction and special vehicles and equipment that are gasoline, diesel and/or propane powered, including six (6) months experience in performing technical maintenance and major repair tasks.

Special Qualfications: Possession of a current Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification (EVT) is desired; or if other stated requirements are met, ability to obtain EVT certification within two years of employment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

  • Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NIASE) in two (2) or more of the automobile or heavy-duty truck areas or a major manufacturer certification with the ability to obtain their ASE within 6 months of hire. (Submit photocopy of certifications with application.)

  • Possession of a valid Driverís License; ability to obtain a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License, Class "B" within 6 months of employment.

    EXAMINATION: Evaluation of training and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing. A Training and Experience Supplemental Form must be submitted with the application. (Forms available on-line).
