Fire Division Chief
NATURE OF WORK:
Performs highly responsible managerial and technical work in supervising a combat shift for Tampa Fire Rescue. Supervises fire combat and rescue operations on a designated twenty-four hour work shift. Work is of unusual difficulty and requires the exercise of considerable initiative and independent judgment in managing and executing plans to provide fire suppression, emergency medical response and care, and emergency medical transport services within the city. Conducts shift planning and scheduling meetings with district chiefs and airport chief. Coordinates planning and scheduling to provide for in-service training and support needs. Collaborates with district chiefs and others to review and discuss policies and procedures. Prepares reports and correspondence; assigns, develops, and evaluates staff; manages unit budget and work processes; performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in fire science, fire administration or related field and five (5) years progressively responsible fire experience including three (3) years station officer experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Note: An acceptable transcript of college coursework/credits may be requested.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid Florida Class “E" or higher Driver's license.
