Downtown Tampa Traffic Advisory for May 3 & 4
May 3, 2013 - There are several events scheduled in downtown area for this Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 that will cause traffic congestion from 3 p.m. until 12 midnight each day. Motorist heading to downtown Tampa are advise to allow extra time and to look for message boards providing directions and information.

Streets to avoid are Ashley Drive and Tampa Street. The City of Tampa Transportation Division recommends motorists that drive through the downtown area use alternate routes. Some of the alternate routes are Meridian Avenue/Beneficial Drive to access Harbour Island, Kennedy Boulevard, and I-275 to bypass downtown.

People coming to the events at the Straz Center, the Transportation Division recommends parking in the Poe Garage or nearby surface lots. People coming to the events at the Curtis Hixon Park, the Transportation Division recommends parking in the Fort Brooke Garage and taking the free HART In-Town Trolley to the venue or parking at the Royal Regional Parking Lot, located at 1200 N. Tampa Street.

HART In-Town Trolley is providing extended service for Funk Fest on Friday, May 3 from 4 – 6 p.m. and 10:30 – 11:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 2 – 6 p.m. and 10:30 – 11:30 p.m. Riders may board the Trolley at the southwest corner of Whiting and Franklin Streets and at the Residence Inn, located at Cass Street and Ashley Drive.
