Tampa, FL June 27, 2013 - Mayor Bob Buckhorn announced today that Hill Ward Henderson will donate $50,000 to replace aging exercise equipment along the Bayshore Fitness Trail.
The Bayshore Fitness Trail extends along Bayhore Boulevard, running from the Davis Islands bridges to Rome Avenue.
"Hill Ward Henderson has been, and continues to be, a terrific partner to the City of Tampa, and this project is one way they demonstrate how committed they are to bettering our community," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "I am grateful to Hill Ward Henderson for their generosity, and I am sure the thousands of people who enjoy Bayshore everyday will be as well."
All 10 current fitness stations along the Bayshore Fitness Trail will be outfitted with new equipment. The new fitness stations will include a sit-up bench, 3-person pommel horse, S-shaped jump bar for strengthening the lower body, as well as waist, and leg stretchers.
"Our firm is pleased to support this wellness and recreation initiative," said R. James "Jim" Robbins, Jr., Managing Shareholder of Hill Ward Henderson. "The Bayshore stands as one of Tampa’s signature landmarks, and we are proud to be a partner with the City in its continued enhancement."
Hill Ward Henderson's donation will purchase the new equipment and go towards installing rubberized fall surface material around the new equipment. The City of Tampa will remove the old equipment, prepare the space, and install the new fitness equipment.
Installation is expected to be complete by September 2013.
