|USCIS to Welcome 65 New Citizens during Independence Day Celebration at Tampa Bay History Center - Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn to Give Keynote Remarks
Tampa, FL July 3, 2013 - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Tampa Field Office Director Leslie Meeker will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America's newest citizens during a special naturalization ceremony on the 4th of July at the Tampa Bay History Center. Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will deliver keynote remarks during the ceremony on America's 237th birthday.
The 65 citizenship candidates originate from the following 27 countries: Bahamas, Colombia, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, Venezuela and Vietnam.
This ceremony is part of USCIS’ annual celebration of Independence Day. More than 7,800 candidates will become citizens at more than 100 special ceremonies across the country and around the world from July 1 to July 5.
This year’s celebration will include special ceremonies at the Department of Treasury in Washington, D.C.; Crater Lake National Park in Crater Lake, Ore.; the Chicago Cultural Center in Chicago; Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, Va.; Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Ariz.; the National World War II Museum in New Orleans; the Freedom Tower in Miami; George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon, Va.; the Seattle Center in Seattle; the USS Midway Museum in San Diego; the Battleship Missouri Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Saratoga National Historical Park in Stillwater, N.Y.; Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan; McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.; and aboard the USS Constitution in Boston.
