Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death
Tampa, FL July 24, 2013 -

Son charged with neglect of the elderly

WHEN: 7/23/2013, 7:25 a.m.

WHERE: 4910 North 38th Street, Tampa

VICTIM: Louise Baker Holmes, 6/12/31, B/F, 4910 North 38th Street, Tampa

SUSPECT: James Edward Holmes, 10/01/54, B/F, 4910 North 38th Street, Tampa

CHARGES: Neglect of an elderly or disabled adult

DETAILS: Tampa Police officers responded to the home after a 911 call about a deceased elderly female. The house that Mrs. Holmes lived in was in deplorable condition. There was no electricity or water and there were roaches and rats inside the home. The floor was also covered with mud and the roof was falling in. Her son, the suspect, was the primary caregiver for the victim. He was taken to Tampa Police headquarters where he told detectives he visits her daily. He told detectives she has been unable to walk since July 4th and admitted that she needed medical treatment. Pending the autopsy results, additional charges are possible. The autopsy is taking place today. We’ll update you if there are any additional charges.
