Suspect: Charles M. Leigh, DOB: 4/3/49, W/M, 7813 North Nebraska Ave
Charges: Falsifying Official Documents (6 counts)
Tampa Police officers received a tip in June that the suspect was falsifying court probation paperwork for defendants ordered to perform community service hours as part of their probation. During the joint investigation with the Department of Corrections, the suspect falsified an undercover officer's probation documents twice. He gave the officer credit for 50 community community service hours in exchange for 7 intimate hugs.
On 6/19/13, an undercover Tampa Police officer posed as a defendant serving probation on a grand theft charge. The suspect falsified the officer's probation documents giving her credit for 17 community service hours in exchange for 4 hugs.
On 7/31/13, the suspect falsified the undercover officer's documents a second time. He gave her credit for an additional 33 community service hours for 3 groping hugs.
Charles Leigh is the head of the Apostolic Catholic Church at 7813 North Nebraska Avenue. This church is NOT affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.
Leigh was arrested on 10/12/76 for Sexual Battery. On 6/21/78, Leigh was arrested for Armed Robbery. Both of those charges were later dropped.
