Pirates Invade Police Safe Haven to Deliver Holiday Meals

Tampa, FL December 19, 2013 -
Police and pirates delivered 50 holiday meals that were donated by a local family to Sulphur Springs residents

WHEN: Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11 a.m.

WHERE: Sulphur Springs Resources in Community Hope (R.I.C.H.) House, 8218 North Marks, Tampa

DETAILS:

Gasparilla pirates traded in their beads for turkeys this holiday season to help provide meals for needy families in the Sulphur Springs community. For the first time, members of the Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla arrived at the R.I.C.H. House on a festive float filled with turkeys and all of the trimmings to prepare a hearty holiday dinner. Tampa Police officers led the invasion through the neighborhood and helped the pirates unload their holiday treasure. The meals, which were donated by the Samaha family of Hyde Park, will feed approximately 200 underprivileged residents living in Sulphur Springs.

The Tampa Police officers who operate the neighborhood’s R.I.C.H. House identified 50 economically challenged households that where in dire need of food assistance this holiday season. Thanks to the generosity of numerous individuals and organizations, the R.I.C.H. House provided these families with gift wrapped presents for their relatives on an earlier date.
