January 7, 2014 - The City of Tampa announced today that it received proposals to redevelop two city-owned parcels in historic Ybor City.
"The two RFPs released were aimed at stimulating development that would complement the surrounding neighborhood and that would bring new economic opportunities. Each proposal offers unique ideas for re-energizing the parcels," said Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "I am looking for partners who recognize Ybor’s history and want to help fulfill its potential."
The first RFP targets the northeastern corner of E. 7th Ave and Nuccio Parkway to be purchased and developed into a hotel. The City of Tampa received two proposals for this project. Those proposals were submitted by YC Hospitality, LLC and Liberty Group.
The second RFP is for the purchase of a property located along 12th Avenue between 16th and 17th streets with the intent of creating a new multi-family residential development. The City of Tampa received one proposal to develop this parcel, which was submitted by Intown/Framework Group.
The City of Tampa released two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on December 6, 2013 aimed at generating new economic opportunities in Ybor City.
Since spring 2011, the City of Tampa has released three other major RFPs for redevelopment of city-owned properties: Water Works Building, Classic Federal Courthouse, and a parcel adjacent to the Tampa Riverwalk.
