Tampa, FL May 27, 2014 - In addition to requesting service and staying connected, customers can now pay utility bills on the City of Tampa's mobile app.
To download the app, citizens should look in the iTunes or Google Play stores under the name "City of Tampa." It is free to download and use.
"I want to make it as easy as possible for residents and those who use city services to stay connected with local government. This will give our utility customers an easier, more accessible way to pay each month," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "We are continuing to work to make City Hall more technology oriented and by extension, customer friendly."
In addition to the new utility bill pay feature, developers are also working on integrating push notifications for utility customers to remind them when bills are due as well as for emergency alert notifications. In addition to push notifications, the mobile app will soon incorporate a "find my park" tool to allow residents to search nearby parks and recreational facilities, as well as web tours of both the Tampa Riverwalk and local public art collection.

The City of Tampa launched its first, free mobile application for Android and iOS based smart phones and tablets (iPhones, iPads, etc.) in January 2014. It was developed in-house by City of Tampa staff at no additional cost to taxpayers.
