Public's Help Needed in Identifying Aggravated Battery Suspect

Tampa, FL June 18, 2014 -
Surveillance footage captured inside of the store

DATE/TIME: June 16, 2014 at 6:15 a.m.

LOCATION: Hope Food Store, 4002 North 22nd Street, Tampa

DETAILS:

Tampa Police detectives are searching for a male suspect who punched a store clerk and left him unconscious. The Hope Food Store clerk approached the suspect to find out why he was hanging around an ice machine in front of the business. The suspect pointed to the side of the store and told the clerk that he was waiting for his girlfriend to finish using the restroom. The clerk knew there was not a restroom where the suspect pointed. He started walking to the side of the store to find out what was going on and the suspect punched him. Soon after, a female is seen walking away from the building on the store's surveillance camera. She and the suspect left the area together on bicycles. A citizen found the victim lying unconscious on the ground and called the police. The victim was transported to the hospital where he underwent treatment for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect made a purchase at the store before the incident took place. Surveillance footage shows him wearing a very recognizable shirt with large praying hands on the front and a hat similar to the Gucci brand. Anyone who can identify the suspect or the female seen briefly in the video is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS(8477) or text "CSTB plus your tip" to 274637 (CRIMES). Anonymous tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash.
