MEDIA ADVISORY - PHOTO OPPORTUNITY - Mayor Buckhorn, Development Team to Cut Ribbon on Le Meridien Tampa - Classic Federal Courthouse reopens its doors Thursday at grand opening celebration
 
Tampa, FL June 24, 2014 -

WHAT:

Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Development Services Group Gary Prosterman, and representatives of Tampa Hotel Partners, LLC will cut the ribbon on Le Meridien Tampa and formally celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, June 26. The new boutique hotel has 130 rooms and is complete with a signature restaurant, outdoor dining space, a 2,400 sq. ft. ballroom, and meeting space. Renovations on the property took approximately 16 months.

Once the Classic Federal Courthouse, Le Meridien Tampa is an elegant Beaux-Arts style building, completed in 1905 and features stone, marble, three-story columns, towering windows, and oak trim throughout. The building was first used as a post office and customs house, and later became a federal courthouse. The building has a Local Historic Landmark designation and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is owned by the City of Tampa.
