Precautionary Boil Water Notice Issued for South Tampa
Tampa, Fla. (July 2, 2014) – A precautionary boil water notice has been issued to approximately 500 water service customers in South Tampa.
Preliminary water quality samples taken in the area indicate potential contamination. Additional testing to confirm that preliminary result has begun; however, additional sample results will not be available before noon on Friday, July 4, 2014. In the meantime, the City of Tampa urges customers in the affected area to follow a precautionary boil water notice until further notice.
Customers affected by the precautionary boil water notice are bounded by S. Himes Avenue on the west, W. Ballast Point Blvd. on the north, Hillsborough Bay on the east, and MacDill AFB on the south. MacDill AFB is not included in the precautionary boil water notice. While the exact cause is unknown at this time, it is isolated, and no other customers are affected.
During a precautionary boil water notice, please remember to:
• Allow the water to run until it is clear before washing clothes.
• It is OK to use non-boiled water for bathing, however avoid contact with cuts or other wounds when doing so.
• Discard any ice from automatic ice-makers.
