Tampa, FL July 10, 2014 -
Last year, Mayor Bob Buckhorn announced that the City of Tampa would paint the elevated water tower in West Tampa to welcome residents and visitors alike as well as to honor the history and culture of the West Tampa community.
This week, the muralists, Peter and Rolf Goetzinger known as the Artistbrothers, are in Tampa to paint the mural. The piece is designed to resemble an oversized cigar band, a nod to the cigar factories which brought so many new residents to the area at the turn of the century. On one side, the mural reads "Welcome to West Tampa"; on the other, it reads "Bienvenidos a West Tampa."
The mural will cost $33,800, and is being paid for by the City of Tampa.

The mural will be complete by the end of next week, weather permitting.
