| |
Tampa, FL October 24, 2007 - Mayor Pam Iorio is the host of CTTV’s newest television show, “Mayor’s Book Talk.” The 30-minute show will debut on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 8 p.m. and will feature local authors, book discussions and reviews.
On the November show, you will meet the eight members who make up the mayor’s book discussion group. They are fifth grade students from Rampello Downtown Partnership School who will join the mayor each month for a group discussion revolving around the month’s book selection. Students can read along with Mayor Pam by logging onto www.tampagov.net/booktalk for discussion questions and upcoming book selections. For the initial show, the group will take on “The Liberation of Gabriel King” by K.L. Going, a story about two friends overcoming their fears during one summer in a small Georgia town.
Iorio will also talk with the owners from Inkwood Books, a popular South Tampa bookstore, to discuss some of today’s most engaging and popular reading selections.
A final segment brings local authors into the CTTV studio to discuss their works. On the November show, the mayor will host Dr. Gary Mormino, a local historian and professor from the University of South Florida. Mormino has written extensively on immigration and urban America, often focusing on the history of Tampa.
The show will replay on Channel 15 on both Bright House Networks and Verizon cable systems. Replay times for “Mayor’s Book Talk” are Sundays at 3:30 p.m., Mondays at 8 p.m., Thursdays at 5 p.m., and Saturdays at 8 a.m. For additional information please contact City of Tampa Television Public Relations Coordinator Mark Flynn at (813) 274-7034 or mark.flynn@tampagov.net.
