Tampa, FL December 19, 2007 - The City of Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is seeking individuals to serve on the community advisory committees for five community redevelopment areas: Central Park, Channel District, Downtown, Drew Park and The Heights. The purpose of the committees is to ensure that the interests of residents, property owners, businesses and other stakeholders in the area are represented in key decisions. The committees will provide input and make recommendations to City staff and the CRA concerning their respective areas.
Interested citizens must live or work in one of the redevelopment areas and/or have significant interests within the area. Individuals with a background or expertise in the redevelopment process, such as neighborhood planning, real estate development, and/or real estate finance are encouraged to apply. These positions are voluntary and individuals serve without compensation. Application packages are available from the City Clerk’s office by calling (813) 274-8397 or on the City of Tampa website at: www.tampagov.net/cra. Applications must be received in the City Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. on January 17, 2008.
The Community Redevelopment Agency will appoint members to the Community Advisory Committees at their meeting on January 31, 2008, at 9 a.m. in City Council Chambers, Third Floor, 315 East Kennedy Boulevard. Applicants may make brief presentations to the Community Redevelopment Agency concerning their background and qualifications at this meeting.
Two informational sessions will be held prior to the January 31 meeting to answer questions and familiarize potential applicants with community redevelopment areas and the role of advisory committees. Interested parties may attend either session:
Tuesday, January 8 – 1 p.m. OR
Wednesday, January 9 – 5:30 p.m.

Parking is available for a fee in the City lot on Florida Avenue, enter on Kennedy Boulevard or Jackson Street.
