Tampa Museum of Art to Host Community Open House
February 21, 2008 - The Tampa Museum of Art (TMA) will host a Community Open House on Saturday, March 15, 2008, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at its new, interim location at 2306 N. Howard Avenue in West Tampa. The event is open to West Tampa residents and businesses, Tampa Bay area residents, and visitors from throughout the region. The museum, which relocated its offices in December of last year to its new location, will open to the public on March 7, 2008, with the new exhibition Drawing beyond the Plane, that features recent drawings by regionally and nationally recognized contemporary artists. The Community Open House is provided free-of-charge.

TMA invites the entire community to its first Community Open House to tour the new facility and experience the museum in its new location. Guests will enjoy performances by the Kuumba Dancers and West Tampa Elementary Greyhound Chorus, bi-lingual storytelling in English and Spanish by West Tampa Library staff, live music by Somos Musica, hands-on activities for adults and children, complimentary food and beverage from area restaurants, and so much more.

Event sponsors and support include the St. Petersburg Times, tbt* Tampa Bay Times, WSJT radio, West Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Arts Council of Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, Intelident Solutions and Coast Dental. Participating partners include the West Tampa Library, Baker & Co., Hillsborough County School District, West Tampa Elementary Greyhound Chorus, Old West Tampa and Northeast MacFarlane Neighborhood Associations, Angelo Piazza, Piazza Design Studio, Kuumba Dancers, and Somos Musica. Participating restaurants include The NoHo Bistro, Olympia Catering & Events, Bay Coffee & Tea Company, Go Fish Restaurant, Alessi Bakeries, Catering By The Family, Castillo's Cafe & Catering Co., El Gallo de Oro, 4th of July Cafe, Indigo Coffee, La Terisitas, and One Stop Jerk Center/Jamacian American Restaurant.
