Tampa’s Population Moves Up In Ranking -- Tampa is now the 53rd largest city in the U.S.
 
Tampa, FL July 8, 2009 - The City of Tampa is now ranked as the 53rd largest city in the United States. Tampa’s new population estimate, 340,882 persons, is based on the recently released census population estimate of July 1, 2008.

The City of Tampa population growth from 2007 to 2008 of 5,404 persons surpassed the City of Santa Ana’s growth of 1,863 persons. Santa Ana was ranked 53rd last year and is now ranked 54th with 339,130 persons. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that Tampa’s population increased by 37,418 persons or 12.3% since the 2000 Census.
