Tampa, FL October 20, 2009 -
Gerold Hager died this morning at 7:07 a.m. as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. Detectives will continue to investigate the crash.

AMBULANCE DRIVER: W/M, Justin McKenzie, 12/09/80 31790 North US Hwy 19, Apt 131, Palm Harbor
DETAILS: McKenzie was driving AMR Unit 21 eastbound on Busch when he realized traffic was stopped ahead. McKenzie took evasive action and applied brakes. McKenzie realized he could not stop in time and drove over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and struck the 2001 Ford truck driven by Hager head on in the westbound lanes. McKenzie and his passenger had minor complaints of injury. Tampa Fire Rescue had to cut Hager free from the vehicle. Hager was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. Hager's grandsons were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries. McKenzie was cited with careless driving.
