New 12th Street Wastewater Pipeline In Service

Tampa, FL October 30, 2009 - Construction on the pipeline began in August 2008. The new pipeline has replaced the original 12th Street wastewater pipeline that had a history of disruptive failures and expensive repairs. The new pipeline protects public health, improves service and ensures reliable wastewater service for Tampa customers.

The project was designed by Greeley and Hansen and constructed by CH2M HILL Constructors. The 42-inch and 48-inch diameter pipeline project included state-of-the art tunnel crossings under the Hillsborough River, under Hillsborough Avenue and under Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The 12th Street project is one component of the City’s Utility Capital Improvement Projects (UCAP), an important pipeline improvement program designed to improve reliability and service by replacing the City’s aging water and wastewater pipelines.

For additional information, please contact India Williams with CH2M HILL at (813) 874-0777.
