| City of Tampa Seeks Volunteers for Community Advisory Committees |

Tampa, FL November 5, 2009 - The City of Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency is seeking individuals to serve on Community Advisory Committees for the five Community Redevelopment Areas (CRA): Central Park, Channel District, Downtown, Drew Park, and Tampa Heights Riverfront. The purpose of the committees is to ensure that the interests of residents, property owners, businesses and other stakeholders in the area are represented in key decisions. Community Advisory Committees provide input and make recommendations to City staff and the Community Redevelopment Agency concerning their respective areas.
Interested parties must live or work in one of the redevelopment areas or have significant interests within the area. Individuals with a background or expertise in the redevelopment process, such as neighborhood planning, real estate development, or real estate finance are also being sought. These positions are voluntary and individuals appointed to Community Advisory Committees serve without compensation.
Those interested may obtain an application package by calling the City Clerk's office at (813) 274-8397. Applications are also available on the City of Tampa website at www.tampagov.net/CRA. Applications must be received in the City Clerk's office by 5 p.m. on December 4, 2009.
Interested parties may attend either of the two informational sessions that will be held to answer questions and familiarize potential applicants with the role of advisory committees and the CRAs.
Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. OR
Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 1 p.m.
Both meetings will be held at Old City Hall, 315 East Kennedy Boulevard, in the Mascotte Room on the first floor. Parking is available for a fee in Jackson Street - City Hall Parking Lot.
The Community Redevelopment Agency will appoint members to the Community Advisory Committees at its meeting on January 14, 2010 at 9 a.m. in City Council Chambers, located on the third floor of Old City Hall. At that meeting, applicants may make brief presentations to the Community Redevelopment Agency concerning their background and qualifications.
