Daughter Killed in Accidental Shooting

DETAILS: The decedent and her father had been to a local range shooting pistols. Upon returning home they began cleaning the weapons. When the decedent had trouble disassembling her weapon she handed it off to her father. As he tried to tear down the weapon a single shot was fired. The decedent was struck in the upper body. She remained conscious and breathing but expired shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The father was visiting from Maryland and had planed to fly back this afternoon (11-7-09).
He was co-operative throughout and there was no sign that this was anything but a tragic accident. The pistol used was a Glock model 34. Glock pistols require the trigger to be depressed in order to perform field stripping. The Glock 34 and a Glock 19 were taken by TPD
