All-America City Award Quilt in Tampa

Tampa, FL November 18, 2009 - Tampa, Fla. (November 18, 2009) – The City of Tampa was one of the 31 cities that participated in the National Civic League’s All-America City Awards in June. As a participant, the City of Tampa created a square for the All-America-City quilt, which includes squares from all of the 31 cities. The City of Tampa square depicts the Gasparilla ship and the Tampa skyline.

Local Tampa artist Terry Klaaren designed the artwork and City of Tampa employee Delilah Libby made the actual square. The All-America-City quilt is traveling the country with stops in every town that participated in the All-America City Awards this year.

The quilt will be on display in Tampa City Council Chambers until Friday, November 21, 2009. The next stop for the All America City Quilt is Illinois. For additional information, please contact Neighborhood & Community Relations Director Shannon Edge at (813) 274-7835.
